Step 1: Connect to Network
Connect your PC to the LAN interface on your pfSense hardware.
Step 2: Open Web GUI or Gateway IP

If the default password doesn't work or you forgot your custom administrator password, resetting the router restores all factory default settings.
- Make sure your pfSense / Netgate router is connected to power and the power LED is solid ON.
- Locate the physical Reset pinhole button on the back or bottom panel of the unit.
- Use a straightened paperclip, SIM ejector tool, or pin to press and hold down the Reset button for 10 to 15 seconds.
- Release the button once the front panel LED indicator lights begin flashing or turn amber.
- Wait 2 to 3 minutes for the router to complete its reboot cycle.
- Reconnect to the factory default Wi-Fi network (
None (Dedicated Firewall)) and log in using usernameadminand passwordpfsense.

Ensure your device is connected directly to your pfSense / Netgate router's Wi-Fi network or plugged into a numbered LAN port with an Ethernet cable. If you are connected to cellular data or an active VPN, disconnect them as they route DNS requests away from the local router gateway.
Default login password "pfsense" is not accepted
Check the physical sticker on the bottom or back of your pfSense / Netgate router. Many modern models print a unique factory admin password or Wi-Fi key. If the password was changed during initial setup and forgotten, press the Reset pinhole button for 10 seconds to restore factory credentials.
Browser displays "Connection Not Private" or SSL Certificate Warning
Most local router administration consoles use self-signed SSL certificates when accessed via HTTPS (https://192.168.1.1). Click "Advanced" and select "Proceed to 192.168.1.1 (unsafe)" to continue securely to the local management dashboard.
