Quick 3-Step Checklist

How to Set Up NETGEAR EX7320 via WPS
This is the fastest setup method if your router supports WPS.
Step 1: Plug In Near Your Router
- Plug the EX7320 into a wall outlet in the same room as your router.
- Wait for the Power LED to turn solid green.
- If it doesn’t stabilize, press the Power button once to restart it.
Step 2: Press WPS on the Extender
- Press the physical WPS button on the side of the EX7320.
- The WPS LED will start blinking white.
Step 3: Press WPS on the Router
- Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your router.
- The extender connects to your router’s 2.4 GHz band first; the 2.4 GHz LED turns solid green once connected.
Step 4: Connect the 5 GHz Band (Optional)
- If your router supports 5 GHz and you want to extend it too, press WPS on the extender again.
- Then press WPS on the router again within two minutes.
- The 5 GHz LED will turn solid green once connected.
Step 5: Move the Extender to the Ideal Spot
- Think of the EX7320 as a relay runner: it must be close enough to the router to catch a strong signal before passing it on.
- Unplug it and move it to a location roughly halfway between the router and the dead zone.
- Check the Router Link LED after moving—solid green means a good placement.
Step 6: Test WiFi Coverage
- Go to the previously weak area and connect to your WiFi.
- Run a speed test or stream a video to confirm improved stability.
How to Set Up NETGEAR EX7320 via Browser (mywifiext)
Use this method if WPS isn’t available or if you prefer manual setup.
Step 1: Plug In and Connect
- Plug the EX7320 into a wall outlet near your router.
- Wait for the Power LED to become solid.
- Connect your phone, laptop, or tablet to the extender’s default WiFi network (usually named NETGEAR_EXT).
Step 2: Open the Setup Page
- Open a browser and type http://mywifiext.net in the address bar.
- If that doesn’t load, try http://mywifiext.local or the fallback IP 192.168.1.250.
Reality Check: If the setup page won’t load, make sure you’re connected to the EX7320’s WiFi, not your router’s WiFi. Also, type the address directly into the address bar, not the search bar—typing it into search can lead to the wrong page.
Step 3: Run the Setup Wizard
- Once the page loads, follow the on-screen setup steps.
- Create or sign in with your NETGEAR account if prompted.
- Select your router’s WiFi network (SSID) that you want to extend.
Step 4: Enter Your Router Password
- Enter your router’s WiFi password carefully to confirm the connection.
- Save the settings once confirmed.
Step 5: Check Your New Extended Network
- By default, the extended network name appears as your router’s SSID with _EXT added at the end.
- The password is the same as your router’s WiFi password by default.
Step 6: Move to Final Location
- Unplug the extender and move it to a spot roughly halfway between the router and the dead zone.
- Plug it back in, wait for LEDs to stabilize, and test performance in the target area.
How to Set Up NETGEAR EX7320 as an Access Point (Wired Mode)
If you can run an Ethernet cable to the extender’s location, Access Point mode gives you the most stable connection.
Step 1: Factory Reset First
- Plug the EX7320 into a wall outlet and wait for the Power LED to stabilize.
- Insert a paperclip into the Reset hole and hold for about 10 seconds while it’s still plugged in.
- Remove the paperclip and wait about two minutes for the Power LED to stabilize again.
Step 2: Switch to Access Point Mode
- Toggle the physical switch on the side panel of the EX7320 to Access Point.
- Connect an Ethernet cable from your router’s LAN port to the EX7320’s Ethernet port.
Step 3: Connect and Configure
- On your phone or computer, connect to the NETGEAR_EXT WiFi network.
- The setup page should open automatically; if not, go to http://mywifiext.net, mywifiext.local, or 192.168.1.250.
- Create your NETGEAR extender account, select Access Point mode if asked, then set your own network name (SSID) and password.
- Choose WPA2-PSK or higher for security, then save your settings.
Note: In Access Point mode, the Ethernet cable between the EX7320 and your router must always stay connected for this configuration to keep working.
Smart Roaming and Network Name Options
- Single SSID: Configure the EX7320 to share your router’s exact WiFi name for smoother, automatic roaming between router and extender.
- Separate _EXT SSID (default): Keep the default extended network name if you want to manually choose which network your devices connect to.
Quick Fix Checklist
- Restart both router and EX7320.
- Confirm the router has working internet.
- Connect to the EX7320’s WiFi before opening http://mywifiext.net.
- Try WPS setup; if it fails, use the browser method.
- If problems persist, factory reset and set up again from scratch.
Placement Tips for Best Performance
- Use a central, open outlet—not behind furniture or inside a cabinet.
- Keep the extender away from microwaves, baby monitors, large mirrors, metal cabinets, and thick concrete walls.
- Test a few outlets and choose the one where the Router Link LED stays solid green.
- If you need maximum stability for a TV or console, consider Access Point mode with a wired Ethernet connection instead of pure wireless extension.
